With added flexibility in capture platforms such as crawlers, aerial drones and cherry pickers, we apply the same diligent 3D capture and analysis methods to the topside sector that have seen us become a provider of choice in the underwater sector.
If the requirements can be met using a calliper or a tape measure, then those methods are exactly what you should use. However, if the shape to be recorded and analysed is too complex or organic, or if the size of the object makes it difficult to use these traditional methods, our photogrammetry and topside laser scanning services can provide certified and technically valuable insight into your geometry challenge.
At the smallest end, we have performed 3D scanning and analysis on gasket wash-out anomalies of no more than a couple of inches in width, whilst achieving density levels of over 200 points per mm2.
At the larger end, we have been deployed by a fabrication partner to scan and confirm the radius of a spool cradle. The virtual 3-point circle identification method allowed us to identify the theoretical centre of the radius and as such prove that its diameter was incorrectly recorded and would not fit the intended offshore use. Once modified based on our report, it was successfully mobilised and performed its task without issue.
In urgent or emergency situations, the flexibility of 3D photogrammetry really comes into its own. For simple tasks, the cameras available at the work site are often capable of producing suitable results. For more complex tasks, the finest in capture technology can be on-site and working within a few hours, helping to overcome your challenge and bring your project back on track.
With photogrammetry and topside laser scanning offering highly accurate Dimensional Control scanning capabilities, we can be relied on to consult, propose and action your topside 3D scanning requests in a way that adds genuine value to your technical obligations whilst adding flexibility that reaches beyond traditional point-to-point systems.
