The pioneer spirit is a concept that is often associated with American culture, but it has relevance and lessons for individuals and businesses all over the world. The pioneer spirit is a universal mindset that encourages individuals and organisations to explore new territories, take risks, and embrace change in order to achieve their goals and aspirations.
Some might use the phrase ‘thinking outside the box’, but we don’t like that phrase as the box only exists as a pre-supposition to the question itself. Our answer would always be ‘What box?’
The pioneer spirit is all about having the courage to venture into uncharted territories, and to challenge the status quo. In business, this can mean exploring new markets, developing new products and services, or adopting new technologies or processes that can improve efficiency, sustainability and profitability. The pioneer spirit demands a willingness to take risks, learn from mistakes, and endure in the face of adversity.
This is our strapline, and for good reason. Here at Viewport3 we like to embrace the pioneer spirit by pushing boundaries and challenging traditional approaches in the field of technical grade 3D scanning and analysis. We even named our high-performing PCs after pioneers in their fields: Shackleton, Switzer, Earhart and Attenborough.
We embrace the values embodied by each of these pioneers: innovative application of technology, combined with a daring readiness to take risks and explore new territories.
Our use of 3D photogrammetry is the epitome of the pioneer spirit. A technique that allows for the creation of highly detailed, accurate models of underwater and topside structures and environments, this technology has revolutionised the field of underwater surveying and inspection, providing faster, more accurate, and more cost-effective solutions than traditional methods.
The accuracy of these images assists in the creation of virtual 3D assets, which give our clients access to the benefits of modern 3D dataset analysis.
Ultimately, we’re fuelled by a desire to solve problems, and as is so often the case, necessity is the mother of invention. New ideas and approaches are our MO.
That was certainly the case when it came to the R&D of our Viewport3 designed ‘drop’ camera. We discovered there was a lack of such cameras in the market which are capable of collecting high-grade digital images, but are simultaneously straightforward to use. So we made our own.
We actively seek out new technologies and techniques that can improve our services, and enhance the value we provides to our clients. To do this we take calculated risks, experiment with new methods, and adapt readily to the twists and turns of outrageous fortune. Remember COVID? When we couldn’t physically reach our clients’ assets, we ramped up our supported remote access 3D scanning service. Now it’s a fully formed service offering in its own right.
We all stand on the shoulders of giants. Like all the pioneers before us, we push boundaries, we collaborate, we explore, we innovate to become leaders in our field and make a positive impact on the world. Or at least on our small section of it! 😊
