Aberdeenshire-based Viewport3 are to offer remote and in-person ‘Lunch & Learn’ sessions aimed at broadening the understanding of underwater 3D scanning options available to the offshore and inshore sectors.

Following on from successful learning sessions with several local clients, the Viewport3 team are inviting industry colleagues to learn more about different subsea scanning options, as well as detail how existing ROV camera systems can be repurposed to collect 3D data from subsea sites in urgent or ad-hoc situations.

Viewport3 will present several topics aimed at simplifying access to underwater 3D scanning, helping engineering and technical authority teams to better understand the options open to them. Attendees are invited to suggest topics for the sessions. Some of the subjects covered will include:

Since 2017, Viewport3 have completed more than seventy 3D scanning and dimensional analysis projects for many loyal customers in the offshore and renewables markets.

More than twenty of these projects have helped operators achieve first-time-fit installations during retro-fit design tasks by placing a precise and verified 3D copy of the subsea hardware into the hands of the designers.

On ten occasions, Viewport3 has remotely guided ROV teams in collecting technically valuable emergency 3D data using nothing more than the flight cameras already fitted to the ROV, avoiding any requirement to ship equipment to the site or postpone the 3D scanning task.

The ‘Lunch & Learn’ Sessions will be offered virtually, in person at Viewport3, or at client premises and are scheduled to take place during Q3 & Q4 2024.
